It's been a while since my last journal entry, and a lot has happened.
I'll try my best to explain the life of a guy who's getting married in 2
weeks.
The Couples Shower was excellent! It was hosted by Shane and Sarah last
weekend at our house. I have to preface by saying that Laurel and I had been living
in the basement for two weeks while the floors of the new house were
finished. We crammed all of our stuff down there and put a matress on
the floor - hey, just like the old days! We got so cramped we took to
throwing socks at Evil so he'd give us some space.
The floors were done on Tuesday, the furnature all came on Wednesday, and
I took the day off to install new lamps, hang the curtains and move everything
upstairs. We got 75% of the the work done on that day. Before the party
we were up till 2 moving the last of the house upstairs and putting everything
away. We were more than ready for the party, and it turned out to be great!
They even had a cleaning service come straighten up for us.
This past week as been about taking care of details. We got our marriage
license (an experience you should try some time), met with our Pastor, where
we took the compatability test, finalized the ceremony, the music, the
limo, the hotel, the trip, got all the tuxes and dresses ready to go,
set up the rehersal dinner menu, the rehersal, the deserts, the food and
drinks, and wrote our vows. We're not even close to being done.
Keith Jackson invited us to his shop to try out his candy assortments. We
got to see the place where he makes his delicious chocolates, or the
"Factory of Love" as Laurel might say. He's been kind enough to provide
candy and cakes for the reception in exchange for a web site, which we have
been talking about for several years now. I guess it'd better be a good site
huh?
Here's a partial list of zany questions I keep getting asked: "Are you getting
nervous yet?" "Now do you wish you'd eloped?" "Have you had your first
fight yet?" Ha ha! Very good questions! Go away! I'm going crazy!
That's the update for now. Check back later! There might be pictures!
